Alas!

Alas!

While the first day of term often begins in a most benign manner, this did not! No only did the students seem wary of the divining flames, but the few that did approach and attempt to read them predicted terrible fates!

A young man by the name of Abercrombie is like to pass on this year. Lament!
I did warn him of the dangers of the blue flame!

While most were astonished and reverent, there were the few that saw fit to jest and mock The Divine! The fates do not take well to those with narrow minds and clouded eyes, so I was hardly surprised when two of them lingered to close to the dancing flame and fled the class screaming.

I did warn them as well, but alas, they paid my predictions no heed!

In light of their lack of vision, and a recommendation from the brilliant Headmaster, the lower level classes will no linger with flame, but rather scry through obsidian mirrors. N.E.W.T., however, will remain.

Er, Professor, I think they ran screaming out of the room because they were on fire.

Perhaps, Mr. Weasley, perhaps.

I happened to be looking in the mundane at that precise moment, coincidentally, so I know.

Coincidentally! Nay, Mr. Weasley! It was fated!

Well there you are, then.

Indeed! Ten points to Gryffindor, on the account of Mr. Ronald Weasley's realization of the infinite level of predestination in the universe.

Splendid!

Thank you, Professor! I can spend more time attempting to understand more of the infinite level of predestination in the universe if you like, and perhaps you might even want to give me a few points for that.

Always nobly sacrificing your time for Divinations, Mr. Weasley!
It warms my heart and my Inner Eye is glad!

Trust me, dear, dear, Mr. Weasley--your devotion shall not go unrewarded!

Thank you, Professor Trelawney! I shall retire to my dormitory and seek understanding on predestination immediately.
